Virginia Glennon Graduate Students Leadership Scholars Program

The Virginia Glennon Student Leadership Scholars Program (Glennon program) was established by The League of Women for Community Service (LWCS) in 1998, for the purpose of providing Educational, Community and Mentorship support to African American Women enrolled in Post Graduate Academic programs, at an accredited institute if higher learning, in the Greater Boston, MA area.

The Glennon program has worked as a catalyst for African American Women to forge through the challenges of racism, sexism and classism while pursuing their academic studies in an array of subjects. The LWCS is committed to cultivating & supporting our future leaders.

Women enrolled in the Glennon program are required to complete an application and interview process with LWCS Board Members. Once approved, they become Graduate Student Members of the LWCS, and are given the opportunity to serve as mentors, work on special programs or initiate new programs that are geared towards supporting, educating and enhancing the development of Women and Girls from the surrounding neighborhoods of Boston.

The Glennon program has supported women enrolled in Medical school, Psychology programs, Teacher graduate programs, Art Programs and Education Programs.
